EAC Approval for Furniture Under TR CU 025

TR CU 025 covers furniture for residential and public premises, including mattresses, playpens, toy boxes and television stands. Furniture for children and educational institutions needs a certificate; everything else needs a declaration, which can run in a week if test reports already exist.
What counts as furniture under TR CU 025?
Under the regulation, furniture products are a set of stationary or movable products for furnishing residential and public premises.
The obvious items are in: tables, chairs, shelves, wardrobes. So are beds, mattresses, playpens, toy boxes, and all furniture for children. Less obviously, stands and tables for television, radio and video equipment, and for smartphones, are also covered by TR CU 025.
Products can look similar and fall under different regulations, so settle the classification before anything else.
What the regulation does not apply to
- Medical furniture
- Furniture for use in air, ground and underground transport
- Antique furniture
- Used and refurbished furniture
- Furniture samples intended for exhibitions and advertising

The certificate procedure
Testing and a remote site audit are both required.

Lead time: about one month.
The declaration procedure
The manufacturer can use its own test reports translated into the Union’s working language, or test inside the Union. No site audit is required, which is the main practical difference from the certificate.
The manual and label draft must still be in the Union’s working language.
Lead time:
- About one week with test reports ready
- About one month with testing inside the Union, covering draft development and confirmation, testing and production of the test report in the Union’s working language, payment of state taxes, the application, and a two-day registration period
Who applies
For both documents, the applicant must be a company based in a Customs Union country.
